Remote sensing collects data about an object without direct contact. Active sensors emit energy and receive its reflection; passive sensors receive energy reflected from objects, most commonly with the Sun as the source. The output is rectified in GIS software to produce geo-corrected imagery matched to the needs of a specific project.
